Petroleum Geological Significance of Soluble Cation in Near-surface Soil

During the formation and migration of oil and gas, some soluble microelements had been separated and dissolved in the associated water.Dissolved microelements in oilfield water and crude oil could migrate with water to the near\|surface.So we can track the oil-gas information underlying strata by analyzing variations of soluble cations in near-surface soil.Study on variations of near-surface soluble cations in the Xinchang gas field, Changde gas field and Pingfangwang oil field shows that: Soluble cations in oilfield water mainly migrate by the water carriers; the upward migration passage of oilfield water determines the abnormity shape and pattern of soluble cations at the top of oil and gas reservoirs; and variations of soluble cations have a certain meaning of the instructions of the oil and gas reservoirs on the underlying strata.
