Contributing Ratio of Yan’an Formation Coal-bed to Conventional Natural Gases, Ordos Basin

Coal is usually a good hydrocarbon source rock. Its organic matters character and contribution to hydrocarbon generation are closely related to three maceral groups and metamorphic grade of coal. The gas generating ability of coal of Yan’an Formation is weak to medium according to the gas generating characteristics of macerals and biparameter coordinate. The organic type of the coal is Ⅱ2 Ⅲaccording to the index of oil and gas production. Based on the relationship of adsorption quality of coal in isotherm adsorption experiment and the gas generating quality of macerals in thermal simulation experiment, its contribution ratio to conventional natural gas is 36 to 78 m3/t.
