Research on collapsing pressure of continental shale gas reservoir in Ordos Basin

Continental shale gas reservoir in the Ordos Basin is very complex and the wellbore instability is prone to occur.Based on Coulomb-Moore guidelines,a collapsing pressure calculation model was established for highly-deviated well and horizontal well drilling.The results show that when deviation angle is higher than 50°,the collapsing pressure increases a lot which is bad for wellbore stability,and drilling highly-deviated well and horizontal wells near the direction of minimum horizontal stress has the highest collapsing pressure which may easily lead to wellbore collapsing,otherwise,when deviation angle is smaller than 50°,drilling horizontal wells near the direction of maximum horizontal stress may easily lead to wellbore collapsing.The collapsing pressures in different azimuth are between 1.18 and 1.26.The results can provide a reference for drilling design in gas shale.
