Abstract

Based on the analysis of typical outcrops and well areas,combined with indoor test data,the reservoir petrology of deep water sandstone of Chang 6 Formation in Ordos Basin has been investigated.The result shows that it varies greatly in different places,involving sandstone component,mineral composition,interstitial material component and their contents.Moreover,the mineral contents have a wide difference in the same type of sandstone.These differences are controlled by sedimentary source systems in the margin of Ordos Basin.It reflects the different nature of source rocks.The study of reservoir petrology can estimate the type of deep water sandstone and reservoir conditions,also provide the basis for exploration and development of oil and gas in the basin.
