Geological Conditions of Coal-derived Gas Accumulation and Exploitation Prospect in the Carboniferous-Permian Covered Area from South Central of Huanghua Depression in Bohai Bay Basin

Abstract

Coal-derived gas which was generated from Paleozoic humic source and entrapped in Paleozoic reservoir occurs in the Carboniferous-Permian covered area from South central of Huanghua Depression,Bohai Bay Basin. It is suggested that the exploration potential for coal-derived gas would be great. In this paper,according to paleo-weathered reservoir types,gas generation conditions,reservoir property,source reservoir assemblage,and preserve condition,the geological conditions of gas accumulation in the Carboniferous-Permian covered region from Huanghua Depression was discussed,and the origin types of natural gas was classified. Based on gas accumulation conditions and comprehensive estimation of optimized zone,four favorable target areas for coal-derived gas accumulation are identified,including Yangerzhuang-Chenghai,Kongdian,Wumaying and Pozhen buried hill zones.
