New Explanation of Fault System in Baodao Sag′s Northern Slope of Qiongdongnan Basin and Its Affect for Natural Gas Accumulation

Abstract

The S-N directional strike-slip faults,which are integrated at the northern slope of the Baodao sag in Qiongdongnan basin,change the previous recognition about the basin′s fault system.We use the 3D time slice of seismic coherence body to measure the real distance of the strike-slip fault.Depended on fault activity index,we determine the structural stress direction and deduce the activity stages of the strike-slip fault.Based on taking the effect of the strike-slip fault on source kitchen,reservoir property,gas migration and accumulation,we consider that the northern slope of the Baodao sag would be a potential province for future petroleum exploration.
