Abstract

It is difficult to understand horizontally and vertically the distribution of source rocks by conventional geochemical methods in the Langgu sag of Jizhong depression, since there is deep burial depth of source rock and few drilled holes.Based on drilled coring samples and organic geochemical data, the formula to calculate the total organic carbon (TOC) in the Langgu sag is established by using well logging curves, the coincidence rate between calculated and measured values is about 80% to 90%.The evaluated method of source rock distribution in the Langgu sag is established by selecting representative wells which have the whole well logging data and developed mudstone, and then we draw the horizontal and vertical distribution of source rocks in Es3 and Es4.Results show that the moderate-poor quality of source rocks with huge thickness is developed in the Langgu sag,and the high quality source rock is mainly developed in the lacustrine transgressive system field. The new discovery of high\|quality source rock in the Gu′an area is important for carrying out zonal fine exploration in  future and finding lithologic oil and gas reservoirs.
