Chemical Composition of Borehole Gas in Kunlun Pass Basin in Permafrost Regions in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Chemical and carbon isotopic of two borehole Gases collected from the Kunlun Pass basin in permafrost regions in Qinghai Tibet Plateau are measured. The results show that hydrocarbon gas in core and slurry gases of borehole is mainly composed of methane,a little amount of ethane,propane and butane. Dryness coefficient of C1/(C2+C3) ranges from 163 to 1 642 for slurry gas of borehole 1. Methane can be measured in the slurry and core gas of borehole 2,no detection of heavy hydrocarbon gases (i.e. C2H6). δ13C1 values is lower than -60‰,indicating that gases belong to microbial gases. The contents of carbon dioxide are less than 15%,and δ13CCO2 values range from -26.8‰ to -20‰,suggesting that they are biogenesis gases.
