Abstract

The control of geological conditions on the coalbed methane (CBM) accumulation in the east area of PanXie is discussed from three aspects: structure, burial depth of coal seam, and hydrogeologic condition. The following conclusions are drawn: the distribution of gas content in the present coal seam shows that the gas is controlled by folds, but gas is different in different fold positions due to different development degrees of coal; the methane content is controlled by reser
voir pressure, but the lower limit depths of methane increasing with depth are different in different folds and coal beds because the reservoir temperature rise
s and the adsorption is reduced when bury depths increase; the fault water abundance is low in the study area, the methane content is slightly low in faults bec
ause that cracks are well developed in the fault two flanks leading to the effusion of CBM.
