]THERMAL EVOLUTION CHARACTERISTICS OF HYDROCARBON SOURCE ROCKS AND POOL-FORMING CONDITIONS IN THE KONGQUE RIVER AREA, NORTHEAS TERN FRINGE OF TARIM BASIN

The geochemical and thermal evolution parametric statistics analyses of three se ts of source rocks in the Kongque river area reveal: wide-spreading, high abund ance of organic matter and post-mature evolution are the characteristics of the Cambrian-Lower Ordovician hydrocarbon source rocks; the spreading area of the Carboniferous to Triassic hydrocarbon source rocks is very limited, the abundanc e of organic matter is low and the thermal evolution is during the middle-late periods; the Jurassic hydrocarbon source rocks are wide-spreading and have high abundance of organic matter and immature thermal evolution in the major area, t he generation potential of hydrocarbons is limited. From the basin modeling of 1 3 wells in the area, it has been concluded that there are three kinds of thermal evolutionary patterns, namely, continuous deep burial, secondary deep burial, e arly-stage deep burial, and late-stage shallow burial, and two kinds of hydroc arbon generation patterns: one-step style and multistage style. There are two k inds of pool-forming associations: self-generation and accumulation, lower gen eration-upper accumulation. An integrated study shows that the main task for fu rther exploration is to find early-paleo-oil-reservoirs and analyze their des truction in different stages and the controlling rule of rift systems over petro leum distribution.
