Organic Petrology of Hydrocarbon Source Rocks from Taizhou Formation in Gaoyou Depression

Abstract

We systematically studied the composition,distribution characteristics,and contribution to hydrocarbon generating of the hydrocarbon source rock macerals from the Taizhou Formation in Gaoyou depression using the bulk-rock analysis technology of organic petrology,which could provide a basis for resource evaluation and oil exploration.The macerals of hydrocarbon source rocks from the Taizhou Formation,with the content of 9.92% of the whole-rock volume,were distributed heterogeneous notably on the flat surface,the maceral content of the east Gaoyou depression higher than that of the west.The macerals were rich in exinite and sapropelite,while less in vitrinite,and poor in inertinite.The main components of hydrocarbon generation from Taizhou source rock were Alginite,mineral bituminous matrix and liptodetrinite.
