Industrialization Progression and Development Suggestions for Coalbed Methane of China

It is of an important strategic meaning of coalbed methane industry for energy development in China. Exploration and exploitation of coalbed methane of China can be divided into 4 stages, namely, pump drainage and usage of mine gas; introduction, development, and successful application of modern coalbed methane theory and technology; commercial development stage; and industrialization development stage. Because of the development, innovation, and systematic integration of basic geological theories, exploration technical methods, exploitation technology, gathering and transportation, and management system, coalbed methane industry can develop in large scale in China. This is a rare historical development opportunity for energy development strategy for China. In order to accelerate the development of coalbed methane, it is necessary to strengthen overall planning to bring the initiative into play; to strengthen geological research of coalbed methane to improve levels of guidance and target evaluation for regional exploration; to do research of high efficiency and low cost development technology; to develop gathering and processing of coalbed methane product; and to continue to track current theories and technologies of foreign countries and strength communication and cooperation of research.
