Prediction of Fractured Carbonate Reservoirs Using Seismic Data—An Example of Yaha Area in Tarim Oilfield

The exploration of fractured hydrocarbon reservoirs is very important in the exploration activities. But the prediction of fractured reservoirs is still a difficult point in the hydrocarbon reservoir exploration because of the complexity of fractures development. This paper makes good use of the lateral continuity of seismic data, and predicts fractures based on two aspects, impedance variance of creviced formation and azimuthal anisotropy of fracture medium. The result of study has been applied to fractured carbonate reservoirs prediction of Yaha Area and the predictive result accords with the actual well data.
