Abstract

There are good conditions for coalbed gas formation and approximately 1 901×108 m3 of coalbed gas resources in the Panguan area of the Guizhou province. Firstly, this paper determines the geology background of coalbed gas pools through studying the coal seam distribution, coal quality and coal rank, poroperm characteristics and gas bearing properties of coal reservoirs. Secondly, it reveals the controlling factors of the coalbed gas pools in the Panguan syncline by analyzing the construction evolution, surrounding rocks, coal seam adsorption, etc. The coal seams have high gas content in the Panguan syncline due to the good sealing capacity of the surrounding rocks and the strong adsorbability of coals. The exploration and development of coalbed gas is influenced in a certain degree by complex structures, big ground stress, deformed coal seam and poor permeability.
