ESTIMATION FRACTURE PARAMETERS FROM NMO VELOCITIES OF SEISMIC MULTI-WAVE

The fractures are predicted quantitatively utilizing the field data from the west of China. The azimuthal NMO velocities can be used to estimate the orientation of the crack, and the distribution of the fracture. Moreover, the normal (ΔN) and tangential (ΔT) weaknesses of the fracture system can be obtained from the NMO velocities of the seismic multi-wave in the anisotropic media. ΔT gives a direct estimate of the crack density and the ratio ΔN/ΔT is a sensitive indicator of fluid saturation. The validity and applicability have been clearly demonstrated by the results of the field data.
