Abstract

The ultrasonic attenuation character in the rock is usually expressed by rock absorbability quality factor (Q). Q value can beused as one of the compretensive parameters of rock physical character. Contrast of Q value can judge the advantaged leak direction and seal direction of natural gas, can be used as one of the parameters to evaluate the capability of reservoir layer and cover layer, and can be used as an important assistant method to study the assemblage of gas creation, reservoir and cover. The Cambrian substrate rocks in the south of North china craton basin, that have confirmed the assemblage of natural gas creation, reservoir and cover, are chose  as subject investigated, and through ultrasonic detection technique the significance of Q value in the course of natural gas leak and seal is studied.
