EFFECT OF PRESSSURE ON HYDROCARBON GENERATION OF SOURCE ROCK IN CLOSE SYSTEM

Abstract

By means of thermal simulating experiment in the close system, the authors have studied the effect of different pressures on the hydrocarbon generation of source rock (the Triassic greyblack mudstone from well Ha 2 and the deepgrey limestone from well Yingdong 2 in Tarim basin). A series of simulating experiments have been completed utilizing water as pressure medium according to different volumesof water making different pressures. The simulating temperature is 450℃ and the time is 24 hours in the experiment. The results show that the effect of pressure variation on hydrocarbon generation is available but not obvious, suggesting that the relationship between pressure variation and hydrocarbon generation of source rock is not close under the condition of low pressure in the close system. 
