The Hongyanchi formation and Lucaogou formation of Upper Permian are  main prospecting target of Well Chaican 1 Ce 1 in Chaiwopu Sag. The formation of Hongyanchi has a low abundance of organic matter with a TOC content almost less  than 0.4%, for most samples, the main type of organic matter belongs to type Ⅲ and less are belongs to type Ⅱ, and the vitrinite reflectance amount to about 1.58%, which shows organic matter has evolved to higher stage of maturity. The formation of Lucaogou has a lower abundance of organic matter with a TOC content  less than 0.4%, the type of organic matter mainly belongs to type Ⅲ and much less are belongs to type Ⅱ, the vitrinite reflectance amount to about 1.67%, which  shows organic matter has evolved to higher stage of maturity, too. As a result, all the organic matter has passed the principal stage of oil formation, and can  only produce very limited amount of condensate and wet gas at most.
