Abstract

Age-related biomarkers are hot issues in the research of biomarkers at present. When age-related biomarkers are identified in crude oil, they can be used to predict the age of the source rock. On the basis of the summary of the currently known age-related biomarkers, the origin of the oil from the Kekeya Oilfield inthe Tarim Basin is analyzed by the use of age-related biomarkers. The result indicates that Kekeya crude oil possibly occurs before the Mesozoic era. Tiny diterpane in crude oil are measured suggesting that the Jurassic hydrocarbon sourcerock has some contributions.
